As the non-lawyer co-founder and CEO of Capitol Law Group, Mr. Eldred focuses principally on the firm’s business development and client relationship activities. Mr. Eldred additionally supports the provision of the firm’s legal services by sharing with the firm’s clients the broad relationships he has built and the practical, hands on, experience he has earned, during his more than 30 year’s career in the global capital markets system.
For two decades prior to co-founding Capitol Law Group, Mr. Eldred served as the founder, principal shareholder, and senior executive of a number of successful SEC and FINRA regulated financial services businesses. These regulated businesses focused on providing investment banking, securities brokerage, market-making, principal trading, merger and acquisition advisory, and securities processing and transfer agency services. In his role as a financial services entrepreneur, Mr. Eldred has been actively and directly involved in the IPOs, listings, and securities processing aspects of hundreds of publicly traded companies during his career.
Mr. Eldred is a non-lawyer member of Capitol Law Group, PLLC. pursuant to Rule 5.4(b) of the DC Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct. Under D.C.’s Rule 5.4(b), a lawyer may practice law in an organization with a non-lawyer partner, provided that: (1) the non-lawyer performs professional services which assist the organization in providing legal services to clients; (2) the organization’s sole purpose is providing legal services to clients; (3) the non-lawyer undertakes to abide by the Rules of Professional Conduct; (4) the lawyers who have a financial interest or managerial authority in the partnership or organization undertake to be responsible for the non-lawyer participants to the same extent as if non-lawyer participants were lawyers under Rule 5.1; and (5) the foregoing conditions are set forth in writing.
